What should I do if my internet connection at home is unstable/slow?

PC’s IT Department is the central hub for all technology-related questions and issues. Here are their hours during remote learning and working. Go to their webpage and see information below: 

  • Open for phone and in-person support Monday through Friday 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. 
  • In-office support by appointment only, to be scheduled by technicians.  Every effort will be made to schedule appointments within two business hours of initial contact.  
  • Remote support options will be available Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. 
  • If you must get in touch by phone outside of the phone support hours, the voicemail will be monitored Monday through Friday 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

How can I support students in my class who may be experiencing challenges during the pandemic due to their family’s immigration status?

  • Dr. Kara Cebulko (kcebulko@providence.edu) is PC’s immigration liaison and serves as the point person for legal, emotional and financial resources that are unique to each student’s immigration situation. Faculty members who learn from students that they or their families are dealing with immigration-related challenges can refer them directly to Dr. Cebulko.   
  • In addition to assistance within the PC community, please see our Resources page for updated external resources, such as non-profit and local government sites.  

How can I support students in my class who may be experiencing challenges during the pandemic due to their family’s financial context or sudden changes in financial stability as a result of COVID-19? 

  • The Office of Financial Aid is working to address issues related to changes in students’ and families’ financial status as a result of COVID-19. Please refer students and families to Financial Aid’s contact information finaid@providence.edu or by phone 401-865-2286. You can also contact the Director of Financial Aid, Sandy Oliveira directly (solive16@providence.edu).  
  • In order to begin the process for requesting additional resources, students and families can also go to Financial Aid’s self-service page to appeal their financial aid package due to a change in financial circumstances.   

What should I do if an academic advisee is not responding to my communications? 

  • The Office of the Dean of Students is the central outreach office for student communications. If your academic advisee if not returning your messages, please reach out to Dean Sears or one of the other Deans. 
  • If the issue is time-sensitive and you are concerned about the student personally or academically, please contact the CARE Team and Make a Referral.

What should I do if I am concerned about my advisee’s mental/emotional or physical well-being during the remote operations? 

  • The Providence College Personal Counseling Center has a list on internal and external resources for mental health and well-being during the COVID-19 pandemic.  
  • Additionally, The Office of the Dean of Students is the central outreach office for student concerns. Please reach out to Dean Sears or one of the other Deans so that they can follow up with the student and refer them to appropriate support. 
  • If the issue is time-sensitive and you are concerned about the student personally or academically due to their mental and emotional health, please contact the CARE Team and Make a Referral
