DATA AND ASSESSMENT

  • Administered the Higher Education Data Sharing (HEDS) Diversity and Equity Campus Climate Survey to faculty, staff, and students during the spring 2020 semester, asking respondents about their perceptions of the College’s climate, of how the College supports diversity and equity, and for perceptions of experiences with discrimination and harassment. PC plans to use information from this survey to develop a better understanding of the extent to which the campus climate supports diversity and equity, and to inform and improve support, policies, and practices related to diversity and equity, including those to prevent or respond to discrimination and harassment

OPPORTUNITIES FOR DIALOGUE

  • The College’s new resource coordinator for LBGTQ+ and a faculty theological praxis consultant are working with the Office of Institutional Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and the Office of Mission and Ministry on a project aimed at creating a shared understanding of the College’s theological stance on issues of human sexuality and gender, examining the current reality of the LBGTQ+ experience, and developing a framework to build and sustain hospitable and inclusionary practices
  • The Conversations for Change initiative and the Diversity in Democracy Wall initiative, both organized through the Center at Moore Hall, have provided opportunities for virtual discussions around actions to be taken by the College to foster greater cultural responsiveness, social justice, and unity
  • Personnel from the Dean of Students office and the Feinstein Institute developed affinity groups designed to provide an opportunity for students and staff to engage in meaningful dialogue with their respective peers
  • Staff members from the Personal Counseling Center and The Center at Moore Hall led the establishment of a Black, Indigenous, and Person of Color (BIPOC) Student Support Group
  • DEI Training for all College employees will be launched in the Spring of 2021; this training will be administered to employees and will be included in the onboarding process for all new employees
