Background on the EVERFI DEI for Students Module
In response to student demands advocating for more bias and cultural sensitivity education, we have partnered with EVERFI to begin offering a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) for Students Learning Module. Starting with the 2024 class, all incoming students will be expected to complete this training experience along with the Sexual Assault and Alcohol EDU courses. We first piloted this course in January and February of 2020 with students from the School of Arts and Sciences and the School of Professional Studies (majors within the School of Business received similar training through Franklin Covey). In all, almost 1000 students (N = 959)volunteered to complete the pilot study, with women and students of color respectively representing 64% and 18% of the sample. The results from this research were compared to peer institutions that were similar to Providence College in size and private status.
