Community and Diversity Mini-Grant

 

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) Mini-Grants align with the five (5) main DEI support innovative and community-focus efforts listed below: 

  • Structural Diversity, Access, and Equity: Belonging
    • Improve and maintain the recruitment and retention of historically underrepresented students, faculty, staff, and administration.
  • Institutional Infrastructure: Transparency 
    • Establish ongoing monitoring, assessment, and evaluation to communicate progress and areas of growth in the PC community.
  • Climate and Intergroup Relations: Solidarity
    • Foster and sustain opportunities for diverse interactions, community dialogue, and ongoing cultural learning that promote the “common good [and] the human flourishing of each member of the campus community.”
  • Formal and Informal Curricula: Integrated Learning 
    • Assure diverse perspectives and inclusive teachings in the content of courses, programs, teaching, learning approaches, and experiences across all academic and non-academic programs. 
  • Student Learning and Development: Innovation
    • Create leadership experiences and career pathways that prepare students to engage actively in an increasingly diverse, interconnected global society. 

Eight (8awards for up to $300 each per semester are available 

Criteria: 

  • The initiative must relate to two or more of the IDEI Five Focus Areas.
  • It must be a new innovative initiative to advance DEI at Providence College.
  • The initiative must clearly articulate project outcomes and metrics for success.
  • There must be a demonstrated need for the program or project.
  • This mini-grant can be used to fund programs and events. 
  • This mini-grant may not be used to fund travel and/or travel expenses. 

 Examples of Community and Diversity Program Mini-Grants: 

  • Guest lecturers 
  • Cultural celebrations 
  • PC student groups/organizations attending an off-campus conference
  • All student organizations, faculty, and staff are invited to apply. We highly encourage efforts that involve collaborations between students and faculty or students and staff. 

Please note: Each department/faculty member, office/staff member, or student organization may only receive one Community and Diversity mini-grant per academic year. Applications will be accepted on a rolling basis and will be awarded until the funds are depleted. A response will be given within three weeks of receipt of the application.

Applications will be accepted from August 15th  through April 15th of each academic year. It is the applicant’s responsibility to utilize the funds prior to the end of the fiscal year (June 30th). 

 Final reports are due within 30 days after the conclusion of the funded project.
